Trip Notes: The train to Moron consisted of four taino cars. You are assigned a seat number in Camaguey. You must buy your ticket two hours prior to departure at the local train wicket inside the Camaguey station. There were a lot of people queued because there were other trains leaving for Bayamo and to Santiago de Cuba , more or less at the same time. At Florida station a lot of people got on for Ciego de Avila and many had to do without a seat. It is rather interesting the way the train has to change tracks to go to Moron. A lot of new people got on-board the train to Moron joining the people already packed inside.
Upon arriving in Moron I found the station very impressing. Virtually nothing has changed within its walls and it felt like I was taken back in time.
Camaguey Station Notes: Our train was delayed a half an hour because it had to wait for train #45 from Santa Clara to Santiago de Cuba. It entered the station at 14:00 consisting of German and Taino cars. Before taking the train to Moron I noticed that the local train to Bayamo trailing Rumanian cars.
Useful Information: You must purchase your tickets for Moron at the local train desk inside the large Camaguey station. Seats are limited so it is a good idea to get in line early – I suggest about one and a half to two hours before the train. If you think this is a long time, do not forget that Cuba is a Country of people waiting. for everything You can pay in CUP.
